Course Description:
AP Biology is an introductory college-level biology course. Students cultivate their understanding of biology through inquiry-based investigations as they explore topics in biochemistry, cell structure & function, energetics, cellular communication, the cell cycle and cancer regulation, heredity, gene expression, evolution and ecology. The emphasis is on developing an understanding of biological concepts rather than an accumulation of facts.
Prerequisite:
The student should understand and appreciate the science of biology as a process and a personal experience in scientific inquiry that develops their problem solving and critical thinking skills. A teacher recommendation from a science teacher is recommended.
