Course Description:
This course can be taken as a second-year physics course or as a first-year physics course. It covers mechanics concepts such as motion, energy, rotation, and Newton’s Laws. This class offers frequent opportunities for hands on learning and engineering. Students that perform well in Algebra and literature will do well in this course. This course sets a good foundation for students who wish to move on to AP Physics C or pursue a career in math or science.
Prerequisite:
Teacher recommendation from a Honors/Regular Algebra I, a Honors/AP Chemistry, or a Honors/Regular Geometry teacher is recommended. Students should have completed Geometry and be concurrently taking Algebra II or an equivalent course. Although the Physics 1 course includes basic use of trigonometric functions, this understanding can be gained either in the concurrent math course or in the AP Physics 1 course itself.
