The Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) is designed to teach high school students the value of citizenship, leadership, and service to the community. JROTC also teaches personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment, while instilling self-esteem, teamwork, and self-discipline. The curriculum focus is reflected in its mission statement, “Developing citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community”. Satisfactory completion of the program can lead to advanced placement credit in the Senior ROTC program at an accredited college or university or advanced rank in the armed forces. Classroom instruction is augmented throughout the year by community service activities, drill competition, field trips, flights and other military training. JROTC and Georgia State Service scholarships are also available. Three years of JROTC may be used to satisfy the required one unit in health and personal fitness.
