CCSD Celebrates Student Achieving Gold Award

CCSD Celebrates Student Achieving Gold Award

A Cherokee County School District student has earned the Girl Scouts Gold Award!

Congratulations to Sequoyah High School senior Angelina Miller of Troop 14611, who earned the award this school year for her “Take A Seat” project.  Angelina created, organized, and successfully completed a seat plaque sale fundraiser for the school’s auditorium seats to bolster its theatre program for years to come.  Thank you to Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta, a CCSD Partner, and thank you to our School Board for its longtime support of community partnerships.

Gold Award is the highest award Girl Scouts earn, and only about 5% of scouts achieve this accomplishment.  To earn a Gold Award, Girl Scouts complete leadership programs and a sustainable community project, which must meet specific requirements including a minimum of 80 hours of service.  We’re beginning a new tradition of honoring our students who have earned this top honor, with recognitions twice a year at our School Board meetings; the first was held this month to honor Angelina.
