CCSD Class of 2024 Graduates Headed to U.S. Service Academies, Military Service

Members of Cherokee County School District’s Class of 2024 have committed to military service, including five selected for prestigious U.S. Service Academies!

Enrollment at U.S. Service Academies is very limited, and appointees are selected based on outstanding academic achievement, athletic accomplishments, demonstrated leadership and school and community service.  

Congratulations and thank you to CCSD’s five appointees:

•    Lucas Hubert of Creekview HS – U.S. Coast Guard Academy, where he will play football as well;
•    Connor Lawlor of Etowah HS – U.S. Coast Guard Academy;
•    Kevin Maurer of Woodstock HS – U.S. Naval Academy, where he will play baseball as well;
•    Cal Schubert of Creekview HS – U.S. Coast Guard Academy, where he will play football as well; and,
•    Sydney Watson of Cherokee HS – U.S. Air Force Academy.  Sydney also earned one of 100 U.S. Air Force JROTC J–100 Character–in–Leadership Scholarship presented worldwide.
