CCSD Students Selected for Statewide Leadership Program
Two Cherokee County School District students recently participated in a statewide leadership program.
Creekview High School senior Keirnan Lamp and Sequoyah High School junior Max Williams were selected to attend the inaugural Youth LEAD Georgia Summit presented by the University of Georgia’s J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development and Georgia 4-H at the UGA campus in Athens.
During the summit, 110 high school student delegates developed their leadership skills through classes led by Fanning Institute faculty and had opportunities to tour the campus. The summit is part of the Youth LEAD Georgia program, which is focused on developing and improving youth leaders to be prepared for success after high school including being more engaged in their communities.
The summit was sponsored by Chick-fil-A Inc. and The Same House nonprofit organization. Rodney Bullard, CEO of The Same House, served as keynote speaker and talked about his experience as a leader and the importance of leadership in communities.
Nominations of current high school sophomores and juniors for the 2025 Youth LEAD Georgia class are open through Sept. 1; nominated students will have until Sept. 30 to apply. Learn more at www.youthleadgeorgia.org/nominate
