Career Pathway: Marketing teacher

What’s the most innovative idea that you’ve tried in your classroom?
A couple of my favorite innovative ideas include project-based learning and the Shark Tank presentations.  Students created an original product, wrote a business plan, and presented a marketing plan to community members.  Additionally, I have implemented a school-based enterprise that provides students with hands-on learning experiences and career-related work experience.
Who is the best teacher you ever had and what made him or her special?
As I reflect on my journey as an educator, I often think of my mom, who was the best teacher I ever knew.  She was the media specialist, taught reading and sponsored the yearbook, imparting invaluable life lessons along the way.  Her advice shaped my approach to teaching and life itself.  It's been a bittersweet experience since she passed away just two weeks before I started here.  I miss her every day, but I carry her lessons with me in the classroom.
What can parents do to prepare their children for learning?
It is essential to listen to your child and explore their interests.  Encouraging leadership activities and community service can significantly enhance their growth.  Additionally, getting them involved in career tech classes is crucial, as these programs help prepare learners for the real world and provide opportunities to explore various careers.
What are the obstacles to getting all kids to achieve?
Every child is unique, learning in their own way and coming from diverse backgrounds.  It's essential that we recognize these differences, especially since our students are involved in various activities outside of the classroom.  To truly engage them, we need to provide differentiated lessons that connect to real-world applications.
