Course Extension (Recovery)

Students must have an average of 70% to pass and receive credit for the course.  However, if the student's grade is between a 65% - 69% at the end of the semester, the student is eligible to participate in CCSD’s Course Extension program.  Course Extension courses are self-directed, web-based learning programs utilizing the Edgenuity Learning solution.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

• The program offers 12 hours of proctored lab time.
• Students can work on this web-based program at home.  However, all assessments will have to be completed at school and proctored by a school-based staff member.
• Students will complete an individualized mastery unit centered on content/standards.
• All graded components of this mastery unit must score at an 80%.
• Upon successful completion of the mastery unit, the student will receive a final course grade of a 70.
• If a student does not finish the mastery unit, their original course average will appear on their transcript.
  • 9^th – 11^th grade students must complete all work by 2:00pm on Wednesday, May 29^th
  • 12^th grade students must complete all work by 3:15pm on Friday, May 17^th.

ONLINE REGISTRATION:

• Together, parent/guardian and students will register online (link provided below) for the program.
• There is a limited number of seats offered.  Registration is available on a first come first serve basis.
• Deadline to register:
  • 9^th – 11^th grade students:  Friday, May 24^th at 11:59pm
  • 12^th grade students:  Wednesday, May 15^th at 11:59pm.

PAYMENT: 

• A $40 fee is required for students to participate in Course Extension. 
• Payments can also be made in person in the attendance office at Sequoyah.
• Online Payment Instructions:  click on the Payment button below and search for "Course Extension", find Sequoyah in the list and pay for a class or classes.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR 9th-11th GRADERS: 

• Students will attend Tuesday, May 28^th & Wednesday, May 29^th from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm in Room SE134.

• Students enrolled must attend both days or until they complete the course extension requirements.  Any absence must be approved by the School Program Coordinator.

• Transportation and lunch are not provided.

• Early Lab Time with Bus Transportation:  Students have the option to begin Course Extension starting on May 22^nd after they take their morning final exam(s):

  • Wednesday, May 22^nd & Thursday, May 23^rd from 12:45 – 3:15pm (normal bus transportation provided)

  • Friday, May 24^th from 9:45 – 11:45am (bus transportation provided at 12:00pm).  Students may also stay the rest of the day on Friday, May 24^th from 11:45am – 3:15pm, but TRANSPORTATION AND LUNCH ARE NOT PROVIDED.

• Students will attend May 16^th & May 17^th from 8:15 am to 3:15 pm in room SE134.
• Students enrolled must attend both days or until they complete the course extension requirements.

• Parents must have an active account prior to paying online.  This can be set up by clicking the “Account” dropdown button and then choosing “Create Account”
• In the  Search box, search for "Sequoyah Extension Program"
• Click on “Sequoyah High School” from the list of schools
• Click on “COURSE EXTENSION 2^ND SEMESTER”
• Click “log in to purchase”
• Log in with your username and password
• Choose your student’s name
• Click “Add to Cart”
• Click “View Cart” to pay and checkout
